Your access can’t be reinstated because too much time has passed since we restricted your account Update

Looking for a Facebook ban solution after seeing: “your access can’t be reinstated because too much time has passed since we restricted your account.” ? I’ve worked at Meta and can assist. As my last article details, navigating a Facebook ad account restriction can be tricky, but you’ll learn a lot in this piece.

Your access can't be reinstated because too much time has passed since we restricted your account.

After Facebook says:”your access can’t be reinstated because too much time has passed since we restricted your account” what should you do next?

your access can’t be reinstated: the path forward

What makes it harder is Facebook doesn’t offer a path forward to get ads live again. I can assist with that having worked at Meta in three different departments. The first thing you should do is start to determine the source of the ban.

If you are keeping up with the latest blogs, you read my tips and are becoming a detective, finding out how and why Facebook shut your ads down and gives those your access can’t be reinstated because too much time has passed since we restricted your account ban messages.

Now, let’s talk about Facebook. Remember when it wasn’t GIANT bubble letters, but compact, easy to read? So does Mark Zuckerberg.

your access can’t be reinstated: OG Facebook Vs 2025 Facebook

Even Mark Zuckerberg is admitting that Facebook is bad now

The CEO’s company started a Thursday announcement, “We’ve heard you,” before sharing plans to improve Facebook’s Feed.

Your access can't be reinstated because too much time has passed since we restricted your account.

Once known as the internet’s best place to connect with long-lost friends and tie real-world communities, Facebook is now fully in the business of maximizing engagement — with all the clickbaity videos, unsolicited recommendations and AI-generated “slop” that entails.

“We’ve heard you,” a Thursday blog post from the company began. “Facebook Feed doesn’t always serve up fresh, engaging posts that you consistently enjoy. We’re working on it.”

The post went on to explain that Facebook is clamping down on accounts that share “spammy content that clutters people’s Feed,” as well as those faking engagement and impersonating others. The plan builds on an announcement from late March, when Facebook said it created a new Friends tab that has only friends’ posts, and none from recommended accounts. At that time, the company pointed to Groups, Video and Marketplace as successful innovations but admitted: “the magic of friends has fallen away.”

“This is the first of several experiences coming this year that will bring back the joy of what we first created on Facebook,” the company wrote.

Meta’s own statistics show that Facebook has turned away from the purpose of keeping friends in touch. In the hundreds of millions of hours that people scroll on Facebook every month, just 17% of that time is spent looking at posts from friends, Meta revealed earlier in April. The social network’s algorithm instead clutters its Feed with promotional posts, ads, and recommended videos that often bury updates from people that users actually know.

In an earnings call, the CEO said that Facebook now has more than 3 billion users a month, while noting that the site could have far more “cultural influence,” and pledged to get “back to some OG Facebook.” Specifics were scarce, but he said new initiatives this year might put the business end on the back burner, and that the changes would “get back to how Facebook was originally used back in the day.”

The new Friends tab and cuts to spam content have been a long time coming, but they likely won’t suddenly fix the platform’s struggles to attract new, young users. It’s unclear how it took the company so long to realize that, as the company said at the end of Thursday’s post: “Social media should feel social.”

your access can’t be reinstated: The Friends Tab

But have you clicked on the Friends tab on Facebook?

You gotta click on “See more” THEN click “Feeds” from the lefthand column – confusing because higher up and easier to see shows a “friends” tab that takes you to friend requests – despite not being labeled that – and does not go to the friends feed.

And what do you see when clicking on the Friends feed? The first time I clicked on it a couple weeks ago, I saw only 1 or 2 friends who relentlessly post FB stories, and IG reels, not a “real” friends Newsfeed. Today, I see a variety of friends’ posts. So…reality is not matching PR statements Zuck has made.

But, it’s limping along. Kinda like you are after seeing Your access can’t be reinstated because too much time has passed since we restricted your account. Let’s see what we can do for solving this.

Your Access Can’t Be Reinstated

Have you been shut down and then waited to appeal and got the message that your access can’t be reinstated? It’s challenging seeing your access can’t be reinstated because too much time has passed since we restricted your account and not having direct steps on resolving it.

Maybe you only waited 4 days but by then it was too late and you already got a permanent restriction. To be honest, you have only about 48 hours to correctly appeal a disabled Facebook ad account. Let’s troubleshoot a restricted account. (Check out my last article Facebook ad account disabled next steps)

your access can’t be reinstated: Troubleshooting

Troubleshoot your restricted account

A lot of people have been shut down without a second thought – this reddit post alone has many talking about getting banned without warning seeing your access can’t be reinstated because too much time has passed since we restricted your account.

You may try to go to Facebook’s help pages, but come away frustrated because they don’t tell you how to get your Facebook ads live again. My article sheds some light on what to do if your ad account is disabled.

I say troubleshoot a restricted ad account because it really is like a tech support issue, rather than an advertising one. Because machines are the ones, not humans, doing the flagging.

Navigating Facebook’s Advertising Policies as a Business has a few extra challenges because, unless you’ve worked with the engineers like I have, who tooled many of these automations, the logic behind banning decisions doesn’t make sense.

Everyone is gungho about Chat GPT right now – but if you are a Facebook advertiser, you know the dangers of placing all the decision making into the hands of machines.

So, you got the dreaded, “your access can’t be reinstated because too much time has passed since we restricted your account.”

What now?

Facebook will ask you to confirm your identity but it’s a mistake.

your access can't be reinstated because too much time has passed since we restricted your account.

Your Access Can’t Be Reinstated: Confirm your identity

The evil bots will send you a request to confirm your identity but there’s a fatal flaw in this request: half the time the identity form itself doesn’t work.

When I was working in ads at Facebook and tech, I edited some of these forms. I saw the backend of what you’re filling out to get back your disabled Facebook ad account. And you know what happened a lot?

The form was broken. When you are sending in your driver’s license or whatever, to confirm your identity and never hear back OR get a denial response – many times it isn’t your fault!

It’s because the form itself was broken and Facebook or Meta as Mark is calling it now, just rec’d a blank form without your driver’s license.

Then, when you are waiting to hear back, even if you filled the confirm identity form out the machines will send you this message: “Your access can’t be reinstated because too much time has passed since we restricted your account.”

Ever watch Mr. Robot? It’s an interesting series. Getting a message like that from Facebook kind of makes you wish you could hack like Elliot #amiright?

But you can’t so your Elliot moment is more like:

Now, I’m not saying that confirming your identity is a bad thing. Just don’t think it’s the cure all or that the form will even work.

“Your access can’t be reinstated because too much time has passed since we restricted your account,” is a hard ban to overcome.

Your Facebook ad account is disabled, Facebook is offering no guidance on getting ads live again – if that sounds familiar you’re like one of my clients, Steve Martinez, Vice President of Apollidon Learning.

“Trevor took us through the process of getting one of our University of Texas ad accounts reinstated (within minutes). He offered some critical insights to why our Facebook Ad Account was disabled and shared options to reduce our chances of future issues. We have a better understand of how the algorithm works and know exactly what to do and say if our account gets disabled again.”

your access can’t be reinstated: Negative Feedback

You have too much negative feedback on your ads

If you are not writing good copy, and your FB ads suck to put it gently, you may be shooting yourself in the foot. Facebook already has policies as does IG, about low quality images for example.

So, before you freak out about a Facebook ban, double check your own ads to make sure they are on par with your competitors as far as quality and audience-product match.

One of the biggest challenges you face is not knowing who to trust. Let’s say you’ve googled, “your access can’t be reinstated because too much time has passed since we restricted your account,”

You’re going to see youtube videos like this one, just spouting gibberish trying to appeal on a smartphone.

Which is idiotic. Or you may land on this website, where people are just complaining without any guidance on what to do to get your ads running again.

The key is to look at your ads from Zuckerberg’s perspective. Ok, sure, Mark isn’t personally looking at your ads (get over yourself lol), but he created the system that is.

When Facebook’s automations first look at your ads, it’s always going to be guilty until proven innocent.

So you want to be super critical of your own ads not defensive. That whole feeling you know so well of being kicked in the gut after a Facebook ban hammer blinds you to solving the issue.

Take a critical eye to your ad copy and ask,”Am I calling out a group of people too specifically? Do my claims sound realistic?”

Pretend you are your own enemy, and want to take your ads down. Do your ads sound fraudulent in any way? Do this before trying to appeal a disabled Facebook ad account.

Outdated articles like this one, have no info that works as far as appealing and getting your disabled Facebook ad account back online.

To be honest, I would suggest that you don’t rely on an appeal to get your ad account back.

You may find that it is a lost cause. BUT, if you want the best chance of getting it back, there are a few steps I can recommend:

• Don’t wait longer than 48 hours to appeal
• Don’t use the Request Review button inside Business Manager
• First determine the EXACT reason you were shut down
• Chat in to Facebook Ad Support request a manual review
• Accept that you may need to create a new ad account – I can help with that.

What do I do if my Facebook account is restricted from advertising?

I’ve said this time and time again, you want to prescreen your ads for compliance before focusing on conversions. It’s better to try to prevent yourself from being shut down than try to pick up the pieces afterwards.

Social media marketing agencies like this one, write articles that acknowledge how Facebook’s machines don’t discern idiomatic phrases that well – so be careful how you word ad copy.

They don’t really have a solution to this problem but I do.

The years I’ve spent working at Facebook enable me to immediately identify why an automation flagged your ad copy.

That’s my number 1 tip: find out why you got shut down before taking any actions. Because you may dig yourself into a deeper pit if you act sneaky or evasive trying to get your ads running again.
