Your Access Can’t Be Reinstated
Have you been shut down and then waited to appeal and got the message that your access can’t be reinstated?
Maybe you only waited 4 days but by then it was too late and you already got a permanent restriction. To be honest, the first 48 hours are the most crucial correctly appeal a disabled Facebook ad account. Let’s troubleshoot a restricted account. (Check out my article Facebook ad account disabled next steps)
Before we go any further, you must be made aware of some troubling cybersecurity issues with Facebook.
My Facebook profile was hacked but all the platform offered was a faceless void
An Australian reporter recently shared her experience getting hacked on Facebook:
“A month ago my Facebook profile was hacked. First, a message popped up on my business page, asserting that there was an issue with copyright infringement and that the page would be immediately suspended. As a writer, editor and coach, breaking copyright laws would put a swift end to my credibility, and I therefore make sure that all written content on the page is original or properly attributed. Copyright infringement? Highly unlikely.
Within a few hours, my personal profile was also suspended. Ostensibly, this was because my “linked Instagram account doesn’t follow our rules”, but as I don’t have an Instagram account, this was also bogus.
Regardless, I was now denied access to the entire Facebook site, including client contacts and 15 years of personal communications. My 30 days of suspension are up and my account remains blocked. With no access to Facebook’s administrators, who by any ethical standards could and should support their users, I am part of a faceless ocean of millions with no worth beyond that of an advertising market. Individual fates or lost business don’t matter a jot.”
Right now, there are a LARGE number of hackers trying to hack everyone running ads on Facebook, keep this in mind as you’re running ads. And read my article that is the most in depth blog out there on what it means to be hacked while running ads on Facebook and what to do about it here.
Your Access Can’t Be Reinstated Trouble Shooting
Sadly, many advertisers getting hit with Your Access Can’t Be Reinstated bans won’t even try to troubleshoot before appealing. But, unlike Super Mario Bros, you don’t have infinite continues on your Nintendo Switch after getting flagged.
But how do you trouble shoot Your Access Can’t Be Reinstated? Below learn the ONE thing you must do FIRST after getting flagged:
Your Access Can’t Be Reinstated Getting Started
To get started, you really want to make sure you stop the ads that have the same flags as the ads that got you in hot water with Facebook.
If you have multiple ads running with the same flag, Facebook – even if these are duplicated ads – will count each ad as a separate strike. So, make sure the ads running are paused, that have the same flag as the ones that got you banned. Can’t figure it out? Schedule a complimentary discovery call here
Troubleshoot a restricted account
A lot of people have been shut down without a second thought – this reddit post alone has many talking about getting banned without warning.
You may try to go to Facebook’s help pages, but come away frustrated because they don’t tell you how to get your Facebook ads live again. My article sheds some light on what to do if your ad account is disabled.
I say troubleshoot a restricted ad account because it really is like a tech support issue, rather than an advertising one. Because machines are the ones, not humans, doing the flagging.
Unless you’ve worked with the engineers like I have, who tooled many of these automations, the logic behind banning decisions doesn’t make sense.
Your Access Can’t Be Reinstated: Man vs Machine
Even if you’re running Facebook ads and looking to experts like Amy Porterfield to step up your Facebook ads, you won’t find a lot of guidance about Facebook ad policy.
Now, as you know, machines are WHY you got shut down. Or maybe you don’t know this. Let me assure you, especially after all the big tech lay offs, machines more than ever are in charge of shutting down advertisers on Facebook.
So, you’ve experienced firsthand the drawbacks of relying on machines, in the lost profits from revenue-generating ads that were shut down without warning. But it goes further, into content marketing, and blogging and AI-created ads.
You may think you are saving time, but if the time you save loses you more money with AI – that isn’t not something to hedge your bets on.
Keep reading to find how using AI can lose you money and long term client retention.
Everyone is gungho about Chat GPT right now – but if you are a Facebook advertiser, you know the dangers of placing all the decision making into the hands of machines. On top of that, marketing guru Neil Patel has done some recent studies showing that AI-created ads UNDERPERFORM human created ads – and why would you lose money just because AI is popular? Think smart.
So, you got the dreaded, “your access can’t be reinstated because too much time has passed since we restricted your account.”
What now?
Facebook will ask you to confirm your identity but it’s a mistake. Or it can be if you don’t have someone like me guiding you on how to pull the levers correctly for Facebook’s self-service tools.
Keep reading to find out my top takeaway on why confirming your identity fails.
Your Access Can’t Be Reinstated: Confirm your identity
The evil bots will send you a request to confirm your identity but there’s a fatal flaw in this request: half the time the identity form itself doesn’t work.
When I was working in ads at Facebook and tech, I edited some of these forms. I saw the backend of what you’re filling out to get back your disabled Facebook ad account. And you know what happened a lot?
So, Facebook ad support doesn’t know the form malfunctioned, they just get a partial form and respond like any giant corporation would, and assume you didn’t fill it out and ignore future appeals.
Or worse, if you just slammed down the keyboard and ran NEW ads without looking to see if they had the SAME flags as the ads that got you in Facebook jail, then Facebook will assume that you are trying to sneak around their ad policies intentionally, and hit you with ANOTHER flag called Circumventing Systems.
But no worries, I got you, here’s a quick infographic, a Circumventing Systems guide:
Circumventing Systems Guide 2.0
Now, I’m not saying that confirming your identity is a bad thing. Just don’t think it’s the cure all or that the form will even work. Also, don’t fall for the scam where a rando online offers to recover your account.
Your Access Can’t Be Reinstated: Don’t Lose Money
How can I avoid bans? It’s about understanding that Facebook is a private website, with its own rules. Once you get more familiar with them, navigating Facebook bans becomes easier.
One thing is for sure, you’ll be leaving money on the table giving up on Facebook just because you got a few ban hammers. There are ways to come back from that. More than a billion people connect with businesses on Facebook each week.
That Facebook Messenger is a powerful tool. Sheryl Sandberg reported that every single week, more than a billion Facebook users reach out to businesses using Facebook’s messaging tool.

Your Access Can’t Be Reinstated: Consequences
One of the consequences of getting the Your Access Can’t Be Reinstated flag is that your entire funnel is under scrutiny. So you want to make sure everything is compliant, not just the ads.
Hello my account is disabled
You’re going to see youtube videos like this one, just spouting gibberish trying to appeal on a smartphone.
Which is idiotic. Or you may land on this website, where people are just complaining without any guidance on what to do to get your ads running again.
The key is to look at your ads from Zuckerberg’s perspective. Ok, sure, Mark isn’t personally looking at your ads (get over yourself lol), but he created the system that is.
When Facebook’s automations first look at your ads, it’s always going to be guilty until proven innocent.
So you want to be super critical of your own ads not defensive. That whole feeling you know so well of being kicked in the gut after a Facebook ban hammer blinds you to solving the issue.
Take a critical eye to your ad copy and ask,”Am I calling out a group of people too specifically? Do my claims sound realistic?”
Pretend you are your own enemy, and want to take your ads down. Do your ads sound fraudulent in any way? Do this before trying to appeal a disabled Facebook ad account.
Facebook Account Disabled – How to Appeal to Reactivate it?
Outdated articles like this one, have no info that works as far as appealing and getting your disabled Facebook ad account back online.
To be honest, I would suggest that you don’t rely on an appeal to get your ad account back.
You may find that it is a lost cause. BUT, if you want the best chance of getting it back, there are a few steps I can recommend:
• Don’t wait longer than 48 hours to appeal
• Don’t use the Request Review button inside Business Manager
• First determine the EXACT reason you were shut down
• Chat in to Facebook Ad Support request a manual review
• Accept that you may need to another strategy if your goal is to get Facebook ads live and making money – I can help with that.
FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions
1. How to fix ad account disabled on facebook
Your first step should always be to stop active ads running with the same copy as the rejected ad, then audit your funnel for flags, and appeal using the strategy outlined in the appeal section of the FAQs
2. How to enable my disabled facebook ad account
If you have a spare ad account in your Facebook Business Manager that you can run ads from, feel free to. BUT, identify the micro and major flags FIRST, so as not to repeat the same mistake.
3. How to appeal a disabled facebook ad account
As far as how to appeal a disabled Facebook ad account, you’ll get 48 hours to make your appeal. The best strategy is to communicate to Meta | Facebook that:
A. You understand WHY you were banned.
B. You are committed to following the policies from here on out.
C. You have identified and REMOVED the offending content from your funnel.

4. how to get disabled ad account up and running
Depending on how long your ad account was disabled, sometimes, if your appeal is written correctly, the appeal itself CAN potentially get you reactivated, if you understand to communicate with Facebook ad support correctly.
5. How Many Policy Violations Before Account is Shut Down?
Typically, it’s a 1 to 10 ratio. For every single rejected ad that you get, you’ll want 10 Facebook ads that are approved. After a pattern of behavior is established by machine learning, from Meta’s automations, you may spiral rapidly into Facebook jail if your ratios aren’t correct. 3 consecutive ads getting rejected risks your ad account getting disabled. But, it also depends on how severe the ban is.
And, if this still all seems too confusing, your clients are yelling at you to get ads live to bring in money, simply schedule a complimentary Facebook discovery call here
6. How to remove restriction on facebook ad account
As far as removing a restriction on a Facebook ad account, if we’re talking about a disabled ad account, well, you can rehabilitate your funnel and then appeal, possibly getting it reactivated if you do this SMART (I have methods that work if you’re in the appeal window). But as far as removing a restriction from Facebook ads, see the previous FAQ answer: you need to get in a positive approval-cycle ratio.
7. how long does facebook take to review restricted ad account
Now, ask yourself, is it an election year? Have there been over 20,000 Meta employees laid off? Did you word your appeal using specific language Facebook ad support can and will respond better to? These are the factors in play. Typically, you get an answer within a week. If you have a more severe ban or are in the special ad categories, you may get an answer faster but it won’t be one you like. Severe bans end up as permanent restrictions and they deliver that ban hammer faster than other lighter Facebook ad policy restrictions.
8. how to fix your access can’t be reinstated because too much time has passed since we restricted your account
In a situation like this, your recovery options depend on what is banned:
a) Facebook Ad Account
b) Facebook Business Page
c) Facebook Business Manager
d) Facebook profile
So, each one may have a different recovery option, depending on your situation, and type of ban it is, as well as your particular niche or business’s vertical, and the health of the accounts before the ban. 9. How To Get Your Disabled Facebook Ad Account Back
First, let me also address the elephant in the room: personal and emotional attachments to disabled ad accounts. I’ve worked with tons of Fortune 500 level companies, and the amount of hair pulling and FML-ing over ONE ad account being disabled, is incredible. Sometimes, it’s faster, and cheaper, to just start a new ad account, and relaunch, rather than recover a tainted asset.
That being said, the same answer applies here to the instructions above, for appeals
10. How to unblock your Facebook ad account
Now, unblocking an ad account, may be possible if you get in fast enough with the right kind of messaging to Facebook ad support. While they are the gatekeepers, and don’t have any real power, they CAN talk to the right folks who, if you word your appeal right, can unblock your Facebook ad account. And of course, if you need next-level assistance, I’m always available to chat and see if it’s a good fit here.
What do I do if my Facebook account is restricted from advertising?
I’ve said this time and time again, you want to prescreen your ads for compliance before focusing on conversions. It’s better to try to prevent yourself from being shut down than try to pick up the pieces afterwards.
Social media marketing agencies like this one, write articles that acknowledge how Facebook’s machines don’t discern idiomatic phrases that well – so be careful how you word ad copy.
I mean, you could go to Social Media Marketing World, Go High Level events, or the Content Marketing World summit in San Diego, California, and never learn a thimble-sized amount about how to stop losing money from Facebook bans.
They don’t really have a solution to this problem but I do.
The years I’ve spent working at Facebook enable me to immediately identify why an automation flagged your ad copy.
That’s my number 1 tip: find out why you got shut down before taking any actions. Because you may dig yourself into a deeper pit if you act sneaky or evasive trying to get your ads running again.
